About This Opportunity

Applications are now open for the HZB International Summer Program 2026 in Germany. This is a fully funded eight-week summer research opportunity in Berlin, taking place from 6 July to 28 August 2026. The program allows selected Bachelor’s and Master’s students from around the world to work closely with HZB scientists on independent research projects related to their field of study. Every year, around 20 students are selected for this prestigious summer research program, and participants gain hands-on lab experience at the HZB campuses in Berlin. Applicants do not need to pay any application fee or provide IELTS, making this an accessible and attractive opportunity for international students from diverse academic backgrounds. The HZB Summer Student Program offers full financial support, including a stipend, travel allowance, and accommodation assistance, ensuring students can focus entirely on research. This program provides a valuable opportunity to strengthen research skills, gain international experience, and build a strong academic and professional network in Germany. Benefits

  • The HZB Summer Program will cover:
  • Non-European Countries:
  • Total Allowance (Meals, Accommodation, Other): €1900
  • Travel/Airfare (Up to): €800
  • European Countries:
  • Total Allowance (Meals, Accommodation, Other): €1000
  • Travel/Airfare (Up to): €200
  • Residence costs are also covered for everyone.

Eligibility

  • Open to all students from all countries. EU Students and non-EU students can apply.
  • You must be currently enrolled as an undergraduate student in a relevant field such as Physics, Chemistry, Material Science, Structural Biology, Mathematics, Engineering, Life Sciences, Environmental Sciences, or a related discipline.
  • You should have completed at least two years of full-time study at a university level.
  • You must be available to participate fully in the program for the entire duration.
  • Good English Communication Skills.
  • You will need to provide a letter of recommendation from a professor or researcher familiar with your academic work.
