About This Opportunity
The ITU Generation Connect Young Leadership Program (GCYLP) is a prestigious global opportunity designed for young changemakers and digital innovators who want to use technology to create positive social impact. Organized by the International Telecommunication Union in partnership with Huawei, this international youth leadership program aims to engage, inspire, and empower young leaders from around the world to develop innovative, community-driven digital solutions. The program selects around 30 young leaders each year who propose creative and practical projects that contribute to building a more inclusive, sustainable, and digitally connected future.
Through the ITU Generation Connect Young Leadership Program, participants receive mentorship, leadership training, and financial support to implement digital development projects in their communities. This youth leadership initiative helps fellows transform their ideas into real-world solutions while strengthening their leadership, innovation, and project management skills. The program also offers valuable networking opportunities with global experts, technology leaders, and fellow young innovators working on impactful digital initiatives worldwide.
The GCYLP runs for one year in a flexible format that allows participants to continue their academic or professional commitments while participating in the program. Fellows engage in approximately four hours of virtual learning sessions each month, along with regular mentorship and project development meetings. A major highlight of the program is the one-week global training week held in Geneva, Switzerland, where participants gather for in-person leadership development, collaboration, and networking. Throughout the year, fellows submit monthly project updates and attend bi-monthly meetings with the GCYLP team to ensure the successful implementation and growth of their digital initiatives.
