About This Opportunity

The applications are now open for the DW Traineeship 2026 in Germany, one of the most prestigious and competitive international journalism training programs in Europe. Organized by Deutsche Welle (DW) — Germany’s international broadcaster — this 18-month paid traineeship offers aspiring journalists and media professionals from around the world the opportunity to gain practical, hands-on experience in multimedia storytelling, digital journalism, and international reporting. The DW International Traineeship 2026 is designed not only for journalists but also for professionals from other academic backgrounds who wish to transition into the media industry. The program will officially start in January 2027 and end in June 2028. Selected trainees will receive a monthly stipend ranging from 2,196 to 2,473 euros, ensuring financial stability throughout the program. During the traineeship, participants will work across DW’s various platforms, including TV, radio, and online, while collaborating with experienced journalists and international teams. The program includes newsroom training, reporting assignments, and mentorship from top media professionals in Germany. One of the major advantages of this traineeship is that there is no age limit and no language proficiency certificate (IELTS/TOEFL) is required, making it accessible to a wider pool of global talent. Eligibility

  • Traineeships are open to applicants from around the world.
  • Education: Must have completed a university/college degree, apprenticeship, or journalism school certification before the traineeship starts.
  • Journalism Experience:
  • Prior experience is an advantage, but not mandatory.
  • Career-changers from other fields (like IT, law, science, etc.) are welcome if they have a keen interest in journalism.
  • Applicants must include published or broadcast work samples.
